He Loved a Storm
The universe is all about balance. The forces of light and darkness are meant to keep a check on one another. If one becomes too powerful and starts overrunning the other, that balance will be upset. For the tyranny of virtue is as unbearable as the stranglehold of vice

“A man encounters a storm maybe once or twice in his life.”
Olivia Meadows
On a dark turbulent night without warning or forecast a hurricane came and left.
Mr. Aiken couldn’t remember the moment it occurred but had a sense of euphoria assessing the destruction left behind.
Although the damage was extensive, the monetary loss meant nothing, and for the first time in his life, he felt the blood flowing through his veins. His only concern now was if or when the storm would return.
Amidst the insanity he retrieved a wooden clock from the floor. That’s it. It was 9 PM that catastrophic night that changed his life forever.
Every night at the designated time, he sat on the porch gazing at the heavens, cursing at the moon praying for darkness.
He watched in agony as the stars continued lighting up the sky.
He hoped the wind would show mercy, but the storm never returned.
Night after night, he danced alone in a prism, still he kept dancing, praying for another encounter.
Months passed. Then years.
Life had cheated him something awful, leaving only a distant memory. Like an addict he pursued that life altering moment, but despite his plea, the sun continued shining without a cloud in sight. Mr. Aiken had nothing to chase. After years of searching, he convinced himself the storm would never return and settled for whatever blew his way. His life was interrupted in the worst way. All he could do now was breathe.
